Woman dies after early morning house fire in Bath County

BATH COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A woman has died following an early morning house fire in Bath County.

According to Kentucky State Police, troopers with Post 8 were contacted around 6:30 a.m. Friday by Bath County Dispatch for help with a fatal structure fire on Rooster Run Road.

KSP says troopers responded to the scene along with the Bath County Sheriff’s Department, Bethel Fire Department and Bath County EMS.

Fire crews found 77-year-old Josephine Patton of Bethel inside the home, according to KSP. She was taken to Saint Joseph Hospital in Mount Sterling, where she later died from her injuries.

KSP says Patton was pronounced dead by Montgomery County Coroner Jimmy Adams.

The cause of the fire has not been released. Kentucky State Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
