A woman is dead following a strange incident and crash

SHELBYVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ)- One woman is dead after a strange incident and crash in Shelby County on Thursday, February 22.

KSP responded to a single vehicle crash in I-64 near mile marked 32 in the eastbound lanes.

26 year-old Jessica Carter of Lawrenceburg suffered severe injuries after her car rolled multiple times and was taken to University of Louisville where she died.

A preliminary investigation shows that Jessica Carter’s vehicle was traveling eastbound on I-64 near mile marker 28 when a tan SUV passed her and cut her off.

Carter then passed the tan SUV and got back in the right hand land in front of it.

The tan SUV passed Carter again and debris started coming from the SUV.

Carter along with other drivers started swerving to avoid the debris.

Carter lost control of her vehicle near mile marker 31 and went off the roadway and the right shoulder where her vehicle flipped several times before coming to a rest upside down on the right shoulder.

The tan SUV continued east bound on I-64 without stopping.

KSP askes that if you have any information regarding the tan SUV and incident or know someone who witnesses it, to contact them at (502)227-2221, attention to Tpr. Johnson Unit 1133.

The investigation is ongoing by Kentucky State Police Post 12 and Collision Reconstruction Units.
