Woman dead following crash

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A crash in Lexington left a woman dead.

Police say the single-car crash happened Sunday just after 9 p.m. on Briar Hill Road.

They say the driver veered off the road and struck a tree.

The driver and his passenger had to be cut from the car.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office says the passenger, 77-year-old Helen Watson, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was take to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

Funeral arrangements for Watson are pending.
