Woman Creates Quilt To Tell History Of The United States
She comes from a family of 12, raised during the depression.
Ramona, who is now 80-years old, just finished a king size quilt that depicts the history of the United States of America.
It took her four years to design, draw, hand cut and sew this original, which is a work of art and a patriotic labor of love.
The idea for the quilt came from Ramona’s daughter, Jenny Blount.
Jenny is a middle school teacher in Bath County. She says her Mom’s quilt is a better teaching tool than a traditional history book.
In all, there are 63 squares in the quilt. Each square tells a story and represents a significant event in our nation’s history.
In 1993, Ramona Tolle published a book about her family and growing up during the depression.
Her latest piece of work will leave a legacy for generations to enjoy and learn from…along Kentucky’s Backroads.
