Woman charged with trying to set trailer on fire with woman inside
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 37-year-old London, Ky., woman is charged with arson, attempted murder, resisting arrest and second-degree disorderly conduct in connection with a fire Monday night at a Laurel County home.
According to an arrest citation, Sheena D. Johnson was arrested following a fire at a neighboring trailer on Ray Johnson Road at about 7:30 p.m. Monday.
Witnesses told deputies they saw Johnson set a trailer on fire and then go back to her apartment. The citation said Johnson argued with Deputy Brian France and finally scuffling with him before being placed in custody.Donna Proffitt told the deputy she was asleep in her trailer and woke up to the smell of smoke. She said she asked Johnson why she set her trailer on fire and Johnson responded, “Why not?”
Proffitt’s daughter, Angela Brock, said Johnson had told her she was there to “cleanse this place,” according to the arrest citation.
Proffitt was taken to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
