Woman charged with DUI after crash in school parking lot

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – A Frankfort woman was charged with DUI after driving into a tree in the Franklin County High School parking lot, according to the Franklin County Sheriff. Investigators say 39-year old Wendy Michele Kirk was arrested just after 9:00 a.m. Thursday, according to the sheriff.

Investigators say there weren’t any students, faculty, staff or visitors near the incident.

Kirk was first taken to the hospital to be checked for minor injuries after the crash and a blood sample from her was sent to the State Police Lab to check for possible narcotics in her system, according to the sheriff.

After being released from the hospital, Kirk was taken to the Franklin County Regional Detention Center where she was booked on a charge of DUI 1st, according to the sheriff.
