KUTTAWA, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police are investigating a house fire that killed a woman and an infant Monday.

Firefighters received the call about the fire on Thon Stephens Road in Kuttawa around 5:54 a.m.

Trooper say a 27-year-old man in the mobile home was able to get out with a two-year-old child, but the fire was too intense for him to go back in and help the other two people in the home – a 29-year-old woman and 9-month-old boy.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville to be treated for his injuries.

The two-year-old was treated on the scene and released to her grandfather, according to troopers.

An autopsy will be performed on the woman and the infant to determine cause of death.

State Police say the preliminary investigation indicates the fire started in the living room.
