Woman arrested in Kentucky in connection to Virgina Amber Alert case

MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Virginia woman is behind bars in Madison County, Kentucky, in connection with an Amber Alert out of Virginia.

On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, around 5:30 p.m., the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 5800 block of Battlefield Memorial Highway for a motorist assist.

According to the sheriff’s office, Deputy Shane Johnson encountered a female driver, 30-year-old Ashley Griffith, who needed a jump start for her vehicle. Griffith reportedly had a child in the car with her.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that an Amber Alert had been issued in Virginia for an Endangered Missing Person, Ashley Jordan Griffith, along with a warrant for abduction.

Griffith, of Gate City, VA, was subsequently charged with Resisting Arrest and being a Fugitive from Another State. She was taken into custody and is being held in the Madison County Detention Center, while the child was placed under the care of Madison County Sheriff’s Deputies.
