Woman Accused Of Stealing From Elderly Couple
A woman was charged after police said she stole close to $1,000 from an elderly Lexington couple she was working for as a caregiver.
Court documents said Tiffany Whitaker, 24, was employed by the couple who needed assistance with daily activities.
Whitaker is accused of stealing the couple’s checks and purchasing items at Wal Mart stores around Lexington.
Court documents said Whitaker bought items at one store, including a vacuum, with some of the checks then returned the items at another store to get cash. Documents also said Whitaker bought a $140 gift card with one of the checks and sold it to a pawn shop later. She is also accused of giving a check to another person to use.
Documents said Whitaker stole a total of $994.12 from the couple.
She was charged with exploitation of adults and was booked into the Fayette County Detention Center.
