Wolfe County teacher’s aide fired following child abuse charge
WOLFE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A former Wolfe County elementary school employee is charged with child abuse after being accused of dragging a disabled student.
According to Kentucky State Police, Brenda Stamper intentionally pulled the student by her hands and dragged her across the playground at Campton Elementary School on August 28.
Stamper’s arrest citation says she did it after the child refused to return to class when recess was over.
According to court documents, the child suffered injuries to her buttocks.
Kenny Bell, the superintendent of Wolfe County Schools, released a statement following Stamper’s arrest saying, “the safety of our students is our top priority and the district has and will always fully cooperate with authorities during this or any investigation.”
Bell goes on the say Stamper is no longer an employee of the Wolfe County School System.
