Wolfe County search and rescue helps injured hiker on Menifee County trail

MENIFEE COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A hiker was safely rescued Sunday afternoon after being injured on a trail in Menifee County.

According to Wolfe County Search and Rescue, crews were called into action after a 911 call reported an injured hiker on the Copperas Creek Trail.

Rescuers say the woman suffered a lower leg injury that left her unable to walk out on her own. A Wolfe County rescue team hiked about one mile to reach her location.

Once on scene, rescuers applied a vacuum splint to stabilize the injury before preparing the hiker for a carryout. The team then safely brought her back to the trailhead.

Officials say the hiker was later transported to a local hospital by her husband. No additional details were released.
