Witness chases down suspect, after domestic dispute turned into robbery

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police reported the arrest of 31 year old Andrew C. Delgado, after an alleged domestic assault led to a robbery.

At nearly midnight on February 26, officers responded to a call by Steak N Shake, after a woman reported a robbery in the parking lot. Officers learned on the scene that Delgado and the female had been involved in a relationship, and together had rented a room at the Comfort Suites on Colby Taylor Drive.

She reported an argument between them, about the split of tax returns. The argument escalated, and Delgado locked the door and refused to let the woman out of the bathroom. She said he threatened her, and damaged the hotel toilet.

Delgado later released the woman after hotel staff asked about noise in the room.

The woman left a short time later, walking to Steak N Shake to get change when she says she was attacked from behind by Delgado, and slammed to the ground. Delgado stole $193 from her, and ran away.

A nearby witness heard the woman’s pleas for help, and chased Delgado to the I-75 exit ramp, where they caught up and pepper sprayed Delgado to incapacitate him, and took back the stolen money to return to the woman.

Delgado was decontaminated by EMS when they arrived, and loged in the MCDC, charged with Robbery, Assault, Terroristic Threatening, Unlawful Imprisonment, and Criminal Mischief.

The female victim suffered minor injuries, but declined treatment by EMS.
