With Republicans Leading Congress, Mitch McConell Sets Republican Agenda
McConnell asked Kentucky voters to reelect him so he change Washington D.C.. Wednesday, on the U of L campus, McConnell said the dysfunction and gridlock in Washington is over, because he will be in charge of the Senate.
Kentuckians sent McConnell back to Washington for a 6th term. He beat Grimes by about 15%, and then took a lot of phone calls including this one from Republican Texas Senator Ted Cruz.
"He just called to congratulate me on my election and was impressed with the margin, and I was pretty happy about it myself," said McConnell.
McConnell sent a clear message. He said with Republicans controlling the House and Senate, they will use their power.
"Look, there’s only one Democrat who counts, the President," said McConnell.
McConnell says he hopes President Obama works with the Republicans.
"Now, he’s gonna have a Congress that’s more challenging for him, but the choice is really his and I’m hoping he decide to move to the center," said McConnell.
McConnell says the people have spoken by changing the Senate majority. Now, McConnell said the Senate must change accordingly.
