Winter Care Program activated

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Office of the Fayette County Sheriff says it has activated the transportation and prescription pickup portion of the Winter Care Program.

The Office of the Fayette County Sheriff provides the following services during program activation:

• Transportation to and from employment for those who are employed in the medical industry or professionals that provide direct healthcare services
• Transportation to and from a critical medial appointment
• Pick-up of critical prescription medications from local pharmacies.
• Welfare checks for our most vulnerable citizens.
• Distribution of winter coats and blankets
• Collection of winter coats and blankets

The office says if you or someone you know needs help this winter for anything listed above to contact Scooter Stein at the Office of Sheriff.

The program started 15 years ago as a result to the 2003 ice storm.
