Winchester police collecting food donations to help students during spring break
WINCHESTER, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The Winchester Police Department is asking for the community’s help as spring break approaches for local students.
Spring break for the Clark County Public Schools runs from March 30 through April 3. During that time, officers are working to fill 423 food boxes to support students who may struggle with access to meals while school is out.
Police say many children rely on school breakfasts and lunches as their main source of daily nutrition, making extended breaks especially challenging for some families.
Organizers are accepting non-perishable food donations through Friday, March 13. Donations can be dropped off 24 hours a day at the Winchester Police Department on South Maple Street.
Officials say every contribution helps ensure students have food while school is not in session.
