Winchester police arrest man accused of indecent exposure near school bus stops
WINCHESTER, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Winchester Police Department says officers arrested a man accused of indecent exposure after several reports of a male approaching teenage girls near their bus stops earlier this week.
According to a Facebook post from the department, police were made aware Monday and Tuesday of a man who had approached multiple young teen girls in the early morning hours in the area of College Street.
On Wednesday morning, officers increased patrols in the neighborhood with plainclothes officers. Around 6:35 a.m., police say a parent reported seeing the man walking nearby. The suspect was located and confronted by police near one of the bus stops.
Police say the man, identified as Elvis Jones, was wearing tight leather clothing with his private parts exposed. According to the post, the officer identified himself and told Jones he was under arrest, Jones allegedly resisted before being taken into custody after a short scuffle.
Jones was given medical attention and then booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges of first-degree indecent exposure and resisting arrest.
Winchester Police Chief Travis Thompson said in the post that the department has “no tolerance for child predators” and will “do whatever it takes to protect our children.”
