Winchester PD: Attempted assault suspect wore a clown mask

WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police are investigating an attempted assault Thursday night in which the suspect reportedly wore a clown mask, according the The Winchester Sun.

The newspaper says the victim was on a walking trail off Colby Road when it happened.

Officers say they swarmed the area, but were unable to find a suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Winchester Police Department.

Officers are offering safety tips for anyone out walking, advising the following:

• Walk in pairs when you can.
• Have your Cell Phone with you.
• All parks, walking trails, and cemeteries close at dusk.
• Don’t start a walk that may end near dusk after dark.
• Keep a good distance between yourself and strangers.
• Avoid persons asking for directions or the time.
• If you feel uncomfortable about someone go the other direction.
• If you come in contact with someone who harasses you contact the police immediately.
