Winchester man charged with 20 counts of child sexual exploitation after KSP investigation
WINCHESTER, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Clark County man has been arrested on multiple child sexual exploitation charges following an undercover investigation by the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch.
According to a news release from KSP, 21-year-old James Matthew Calvert was arrested around 7:20 p.m. on Monday after investigators discovered him allegedly sharing images of child sexual abuse material online.
The arrest came after an Internet Crimes Against Children investigation led troopers to a home in Winchester, where they executed a search warrant. Police say they seized electronic equipment used to facilitate the alleged crimes, which has been sent to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination.
Calvert is charged with 20 counts of distribution of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance, which are Class B felonies punishable by 10 to 20 years in prison. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
KSP says the investigation remains ongoing.
