Winchester man arrested in murder-for-hire investigation
WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) -A Winchester man is behind bars after he reportedly tried to hire an undercover detective to kill another man.
Police say 39-year-old Jesse Long asked someone if they knew anyone who would murder someone for him. That person told police who began an investigation. Officers say they set up a meeting between Long and an undercover detective.
At that meeting, police say Long told the detective he would provide a firearm and pay the detective to kill a man he believed was seeing his girlfriend. Long reportedly also told the detective that he would need some time to think about it before giving the detective the go-ahead.
Long was arrested Friday morning at about 5:30 a. m., according to police, and charged with murder.
He was taken to the Clark County Jail.
