Winchester couple charged with animal cruelty
WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two people are facing charges in a disturbing animal abuse case in Clark County.
According to the Clark County Attorney’s Office, Holly Lankford Brandenburg and Phillip Scott Brandenburg Jr. are charged with five counts of animal cruelty.
The director of the Clark County Animal Shelter brought the complaint against the two.
The shelter responded to a home at 140 Linden Avenue on September 1 after a neighbor complained animals were left abandoned at the home.
The shelter says four dogs and a cat were found in deplorable conditions, severely malnourished and almost near death. Some of the dogs were so sick and malnourished, they could not stand on their own.
The director of the shelter called it the worse case of animal neglect seen in Clark County.
According to the Clark County Attorney’s Office, the Brandenburgs have not been served with the complaint and have not been arrested.
