Winchester-Clark County transit service announces changes to route
WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ)- Kentucky River Foothills has made several adjustments to its Winchester-Clark County Transit Service route to better connect customers to the places they live, work and play. These changes are intended to provide enhanced access to necessary locations in the City of Winchester and meet the rapidly changing mobility demands of current and future riders.
On Monday, June 24, 2019, the Winchester-Clark County Transit Service schedule will begin a modified version of its long-standing route. The transit will remain at a 90-minute loop but riders will notice that a few stops on the schedule have been removed and replaced with new locations.
Riders of the Winchester-Clark County Transit Service are able to board the bus at any of the stops for $1. Bundles of 10 bus passes are available for $7, making each ride only 70 cents! Children age 8 and under always ride free (KY State seat belt and booster laws apply to our transit system). Courtesy of Bluegrass Community & Technical College Winchester-Clark County Campus, BCTC students with a valid ID may utilize the bus service at no cost.
Winchester-Clark County Transit Service stops include department and grocery stores, apartment communities, city and county offices, educational institutions, recreational destinations, and local businesses. Passes can be bought on the bus. Each pass is valid for one day only and may be used to get on/off the transit system an unlimited number of times throughout the day.
The Winchester-Clark County Transit Service is a public, deviated-fixed transportation route, which means that riders can request an off-route (stop that is not listed on the schedule). All off-routes must be within ¾ mile of the existing route and scheduled with dispatch (800-819-7083 or 859-624-3236) at least 24-hours in advance. All requests are subject to availability.
The Winchester-Clark County Transit Service is funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation and is passed through the Commonwealth of Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Office of Transportation Delivery. The City of Winchester and Clark County Fiscal Court contributes to this program.
Stops being removed from the schedule include:
- YMCA
- Washington at Highland
Stops being added to the schedule include:
