Winchester announces choice for new Police Chief
WINCHESTER, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Winchester Police Department is preparing for a leadership change as Chief James Hall retires at the end of the month.
According to the City of Winchester, Sergeant Travis Thompson will step into the role of police chief beginning February 1. Thompson has been with the department since 2005 and brings years of experience to the position.
In addition to his service in law enforcement, Thompson served as the Second District Magistrate on the Clark County Fiscal Court from 2019 to 2022.
The City of Winchester expressed gratitude for Chief Hall’s years of dedicated service and congratulated Thompson on his new role.
