Williamsburg man killed in head-on crash in Laurel County

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 49-year-old man was killed Sunday morning when the SUV he was driving crossed the centerline in a curve and crashed head on into a pickup.

According t Laurel County Sheriff John Root, Eric Hone, of Williamsburg, was killed in the accident which occurred at about 9:20 a.m. Sunday on Keavy Road — KY 363 — about four miles south of London.

A Nissan Rogue driven south on Keavy Road by Hone crossed into the northbound lane in a curve, crashing head on into a Nissan Titan driven by 29-year-old Clayton Thomas, of London, the sheriff said.

Hone was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Clayton Thomas and a passenger in the Titan, 35-year-old Elizabeth Thomas, were taken to a local hospital for treatment of multiple injuries, Root said.

Laurel Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Reconstructionist/Deputy Brad Mink is handling the case.

Assisting at the scene for the Laurel County Sheriff’s office were Deputy Allen Turner and Deputy Jamie Etherton. Also assisting at the scene and on the investigation were: Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, London Laurel Rescue Squad, Laurel County Fire Department, and the Laurel County Coroner’s Office.
