Wife asking community for help in honoring late husband with loud engines

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — A loving husband, father of three and motor enthusiast, Weslie Eastveld died April 17th from cancer.

His wife, Bryce Boone, said Weslie didn’t want a funeral or a typical memorial, he wanted loud engines.

“He spent his whole life around those engines revving and racing and that’s how we’re going to send him off,” Bryce said.

Weslie worked at United Motorsports, played hockey and was a motorcycle racer all of his life. He married Bryce nine years ago. They moved all over the country, eventually settling down in Lexington.

“We spent the last nine years just having fun,” Bryce said. “We just lived as much as a person can live in those short nine years, [it] will never be enough, but we packed a lot into them.”

Weslie was diagnosed with cancer in March of 2024. After a surgery, everything seemed to go back to normal, until November when he started having health complications.

“They went in for an exploratory surgery on New Years Day and the surgeon called me, and he was like ‘I have devastating news, he’s just got diffuse cancer throughout his abdomen,'” Bryce said.

Even after that devastating news, Weslie never gave up. In March, he went into hospice care to prepare for the final days of his life.

“On the 18th, they said that we maybe had two days, and he fought for another four weeks,” she said.

Weslie Eastveld passed away in his home surrounded by his family. He told his wife how he wanted to be remembered.

“As far as a service, he didn’t want that,” Bryce said. “He wanted as many engines in the United Motorsports parking lot revving as loud as they could. He said ‘give ’em hell,’ but if you blow them up it’s not his fault because he’s not here to fix them.”

Sunday, April 27th at 12 p.m. Bryce is asking anyone and everyone with a loud engine or a cool car to meet in the United Motorsports parking lot to honor and remember Weslie.

“He said if you’re scared, you’re not winning, so that’s what I keep telling everyone, if you’re scared, you’re not winning,” she said.
