Whitesburg man accused of stealing more than $26,000 from VFW
WHITESBURG, Ky. (WTVQ)- A member of the Local Veterans of Foreign Wars is accused of stealing money from the group.
The Mountain-Eagle reports 37-year-old Jeffrey Williams, of Whitesburg, is accused of forging checks on the VFW’s account, totaling more than $21,000, and an additional $4,700 of unauthorized charges on the organization’s credit card.
The report says Williams forged the signature of the VFW commander on the checks.
Investigators say this happened between August of 2017 up until a month ago.
Williams was arrested Friday.
