Whitesburg Council names mayor’s widow to lead town
WHITESBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – The six-person Whitesburg City Council unanimously named

Tiffany Craft to fill the mayor’s post left vacant late last month by the death of her husband, James Wiley Craft, who was in his fourth term as mayor.
Tiffany Craft started her new job Wednesday morning. She will serve the remaining 18 months on her husband’s term.
She becomes the first woman to be mayor in the town’s history, which dates to the mid-1800s.
Tiffany Craft has been at her husband’s side as mayor and is familiar with much of the operation of the town of 2,300, which is the county seat of Letcher County in southeastern Kentucky on the Virginia state line.
James Wiley Craft died June 29, 2021 after a long battle with bladder cancer. He was 76.
