Where Kentucky basketball stands: Roster breakdown, transfer portal moves

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – The transfer portal is more active than ever across college basketball, and Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball is no exception.

Seven players have entered the portal, leaving Kentucky’s roster thin as the program navigates a period of transition.

The most recent development came when Collin Chandler entered his name into the portal, surprising many within Big Blue Nation. Chandler included a “do not contact” tag, and reports from On3 Sports project him to land back at BYU, where he previously played under head coach Mark Pope. Those same reports indicate Chandler could still return to Kentucky.

He is one of seven Wildcats currently in the portal, joining Andrija Jelavic, Mo Dioubate, Brandon Garrison, Jaland Lowe, Jasper Johnson and Denzel Aberdeen, pending a waiver decision.

As far as who’s staying with the Wildcats, here is what we know.

New commit Mason Williams is set to join the program, while Kam Williams has announced his return. Reece Potter is also expected back.

Meanwhile, Malachi Moreno has declared for the NBA draft but left open the possibility of returning to Kentucky.

The Wildcats are still awaiting decisions from Braydon Hawthorne and Trent Noah as the roster continues to take shape heading into next season.
