What’s Kentucky’s New Year’s resolution?

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) — Americans love setting New Year’s resolutions, which can focus on anything from health and well-being to career progression, personal development and other ways to live fuller lives.

Bet Kentucky surveyed to see what Kentuckians plan to achieve in 2024 — and for how long that resolution sticks.

The No. 1 resolution across the U.S., coming in at 40%, was to save money and budget better — which was Kentucky’s resolution too.

Next, at 38%, is to eat healthier and improve diet.

Third was to lose weight and get fit at 30%.

Here’s the rest of the list:

  • Improve mental health and reduce stress – 30%
  • Strengthen relationships with family and friends – 25%
  • Travel more and explore new places – 18%
  • Learn a new skill or hobby – 17%
  • Reduce drinking consumption – 9%

But for how long does Kentucky keep a resolution?

Bet Kentucky’s survey says 73% of Kentuckians give up their resolutions within the first month, with 21% giving up their resolutions in the first week of January.

Here’s the list of the rest:

  • 1 to 3 months – 25%
  • 1 week to 1 month – 21%
  • 3 to 6 months – 16%
  • Less than 1 week – 15%
  • More than 1 year – 14%
  • 6 to 12 months – 9%

Bet Kentucky surveyed 3,000 Americans over 21 between Oct. 31 and Nov. 3.
