LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW)- Tonie Morgan, Asia Boone and Josie Gilvin are the three new additions so far for Kentucky women’s basketball. Head Coach Kenny Brooks has brought them in to help progress his team to the second year of his tenure.

Josie Gilvin- Senior Guard | Western Kentucky

The Louisville native joins the Cats after three years in Bowling Green. The 6 foot tall guard is an all-conference defensive standout and coming off of her most productive season yet. Gilvin averaged double figure scoring as well as six rebounds and two steals per game with the Lady Tops in 2024.

“Josie will be a great addition and with her ability to defend and shoot the three effectively, she will help our team compete for an SEC Championship. Josie has an infectious personality that will resonate in our locker room and throughout BBN,” said Brooks.

Asia Boone- Junior Guard | Liberty

Boone’s last game for her former school was against her new one when the Flames played Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament First Round at Memorial Coliseum. Last season in Lynchburg, the guard averaged ten points, three rebounds and one assist per game on the way to winning the Conference USA title with her team

“She has the ability to stretch the floor with her three-point shooting and her basketball IQ is through the roof. As we continue to try and build a roster that can compete in the toughest conference in the country, Asia is a welcomed addition,” said Brooks.

Tonie Morgan- Senior Point Guard | Georgia Tech

Morgan’s last three seasons were spent at Georgia Tech, where she played in almost 100 games on the way to becoming a three-time all-conference talent. At the end of the 202-24-25 season, her 4.9 career assists per game ranked 12th among active Division 1 women’s hoopers. She averaged 13 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game last year.

“Tonie has demonstrated that she is one of the better point guards in the country and we are very fortunate that she will be in the Blue and White,” said Brooks. “Tonie’s playmaking abilities along with her ability to score will fill a void we wanted to address. Her leadership qualities will mesh well with our current team!”
