Weekend numbers push Fayette COVID totals up, clinics this week
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Fayette County’s seven-day moving COVID average rose slightly as weekend numbers pushed the total up.
It comes as the health department sets more opportunities this week to try to continue to grow the number of people vaccinated in the community.
The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department is offering free vaccination clinics, each with a different COVID-19 vaccine. Walk-ins will be accepted, or residents can schedule an appointment at lfchd.org/vaccine.
— Moderna (18 years and older): 10 a.m.-noon, June 9, Consolidated Baptist Church, 1625 Russell Cave Road. We will provide you with a list of options for receiving your second dose.
— Pfizer (12 years and older): 1-3 p.m. June 9, at Consolidated Baptist Church, 1625 Russell Cave Road. We will contact you about scheduling your second dose.
— Johnson & Johnson (18 years and older): 1-3 p.m., June 10, St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 410 Jefferson St.
— Public Health Clinic: Starting June 7, free COVID-19 vaccines will be available by same-day appointment 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. every Monday in the department’s Public Health Clinic at 650 Newtown Pike. Call 859-288-2483 to schedule an appointment.
The county confirmed 37 cases Saturday through Monday, according to the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department’s morning report Tuesday. The 37 cases pushed the total since March 2020 to 35,383.
The seven-day moving average rose from 12 to 16.
The county reported no new deaths, leaving 317 lost to COVID-related causes since March 2020.
