Deputy treated and released, one man confirmed dead at the scene
UPDATE: Kentucky State Police confirm one man was pronounced dead at the scene of the standoff, after an officer-involved shooting in the Alpha Community in Wayne County.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy was taken to the University of Tennessee Hospital, was treated and released, according to a KSP release.
KSP is now investigating the incident.
There were no other injuries.

WAYNE COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) — A reported standoff situation has ended and officers are ensuring there is no threat to the community after a sheriff’s deputy was shot in Wayne County.
According to police, the deputy was attempting to serve papers at a home on Carter Dock Road outside of Monticello when he was shot in the chest on Monday afternoon. We’re told the deputy was wearing a bulletproof vest and is expected to be OK. Police say the deputy was transported to University of Tennessee Hospital as a precaution.
On Monday night, police announced the scene was cleared. Officers could not confirm or deny that an arrest was made but assured nearby residents there was no longer a threat to the area.
