Wawa opens first Jessamine County location with giveaways and community campaign
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Wawa has officially opened its newest gas station and convenience store in Jessamine County. The new location is on Lexington Road in Nicholasville.
Doors opened at 8 a.m. Friday, followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony at 8:30. The first 250 customers received a free T-shirt, and all customers can enjoy free coffee of any size through Sunday.
Joe Collins, Wawa’s Director of Store Operations, said the company is eager to make an impact in the Bluegrass.
“We believe we’re here to fulfill lives. And to be able to serve the community and have the community come out like this is exciting. We intend to exceed expectations here.”
Collins added that the Nicholasville store created 40 new jobs.
Wawa also announced its “Lending a Helping Hoagie” campaign, pledging to donate a percentage of its first week of hoagie sales to God’s Pantry Food Bank.
