Water Tanker Flips, Firefighters Hurt
Three Clay City firefighters were hurt in a crash that happened as they were responding to a call Sunday.
State Police said around 9 p.m., they were driving on Hardwicks Creek Road when they crashed in the fire department’s water tanker.
Police said the driver, Eric Strange, 34, went off the road into a ditch then overcorrected, causing the truck to roll.
Strange and the two other firefighters inside were flown to UK Hospital. Officials with the Clay City Fire Department said they are all in stable condition.
The water tanker will have to be replaced.
Fire officials said a similar truck will cost around $400,000.
