Volunteers serve hot Christmas meal in Mayfield for tornado victims

Franklin Graham with Samaritan's Purse and country music artist Ricky Skaggs among the volunteers

MAYFIELD, Ky. (WTVQ) – Many people in Western Kentucky may not be able to celebrate Christmas in their own home this year after a deadly and destructive tornado hit the area two weeks ago.

As clean-up continues, some volunteers banded together in an effort to take their minds off rebuilding at least for a moment.

Franklin Graham, President of Samaritan’s Purse, was in Mayfield Friday serving up a hot Christmas meal, along with other volunteers from the Christian outreach organization.

Country music artist Ricky Skaggs from Cordell, Kentucky, was also in attendance helping to boost spirits on Christmas Eve with Christmas songs.

The Christmas Eve lunch took place at Graves County High School.
