Volunteers needed for Faith and Community Christmas Store
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Catholic Action Center has organized the Faith and Community Christmas Store, where low income family can shop for but organizers say it takes the entire community’s help.
The first year of the store, organizers say nearly 600 kids got presents. Now 20 years since the store has been running, more than 18,000 kids are getting gifts.
The store opens to the public on Wednesday at Southland Christian Church on Richmond Road.
Volunteers will be busy in the days leading up to the opening sorting toys and decorating. Organizers say they need more help.
“You can drop in anytime and spend a hour, spend two hours, that’s how it works and that’s the miracle because it shows the compassion, the caring the willingness of our community to care about each other,” said Ginny Ramsey with the Catholic Action Center.
Ramsey says they also need more presents, especially for kids ages 12 and up.
Beginning December 11th, all donations should be dropped off at Southland Christian Church, Richmond Road Campus between ten and four. All donations are tax deductible.
The store will be December 16-18th from eight to eight each day at Southland Christian Church.
