Virtual support group launching for relative, fictive kin foster/adoptive parents

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Adoption Support for Kentucky Virtual Interaction Program (ASK-VIP) is launching a new group for those taking care of relatives and fictive kin.

ASK-VIP is looking for foster or adoptive parents who are taking care of a relative or fictive kin, or someone who is not related by birth or marriage but the individual is close with.

The organization is setting up the Relative & Fictive Kin Foster/Adoptive Parent support group, which will start Sunday, Aug. 8 and will meet each Sunday for 12 weeks. The group will be lead by an ASK-VIP facilitator with experience with child-specific foster care. At the end of the 12 weeks, participants will be given an online survey.

Those participate in at least 10 of the 12 weekly meetings and complete the survey at the conclusion of the group can receive a stipend.
