Vigil Honors Boy Killed In Louisville Park
A crowd of some 150 people prayed and released balloons during a vigil for a 12-year-old southern Indiana student fatally stabbed at a park in nearby Louisville, Kentucky.
The friends and relatives of Ray Etheridge wrote messages to him on the balloons before letting them go Thursday night from a New Albany park.
Louisville police have charged a 21-year-old homeless man with murder in Ray’s death. Police say Ray was found stabbed multiple times Tuesday afternoon in a wooded area inside Louisville’s Cherokee Park.
Ray was a seventh-grader at Clark County Middle/High School in Jeffersonville.
School bus aide Linda Miller tells the News and Tribune (http://bit.ly/YYDE5p ) that Ray was always smiling in the morning. She says she’s shocked by Ray’s death when his whole life was in front of him.
