Video now available to help teen death investigation

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (AP) – A Shelbyville teenager who died a day after being admitted to a juvenile detention center was videotaped during her stay at the facility.

The News-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/1NAeo71 ) reports that a camera inside the room of the 16-year-old recorded the room for the length of her say at Lincoln Village Juvenile Detention Center in Elizabethtown.

Director of communications and program services for the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice Stacy Floden says a copy of the footage has been provided to Kentucky State Police and the Justice Cabinet Office of Investigations.

The Department of Juvenile Justice said in a news release that it appeared the teenager died Jan. 11 while sleeping.

The Kentucky State Medical Examiner is waiting for toxicology, electrolyte analysis and histology report results to determine a cause of death.
