Vice Mayor Asks Urban Co. Council To Consider E-Cig Ban
Vice Mayor Linda Gorton asked the city to consider adding electronic cigarettes to Fayette County’s smoking ban.
According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, Vice Mayor Linda Gorton sent an e-mail Monday to the Urban County Council that proposed talking about the potential change.
E-cigarettes are currently banned in some other Central Kentucky cities.
Lexington was the first city in Kentucky to ban cigarette smoking back in 2003.
E-cigarettes are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration.
Many who support banning the e-cigs said there had not been enough research into the potential health risks associated with electronic cigarettes.
