Vests required after officer’s shooting

PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WTVQ) – Some changes at the Prestonsburg Police Department, following the shooting of one of its officers.

Adam Dixon was shot in the chest last week while trying to arrest a suspect who ran off after a traffic stop.

Now, all officers with the department are required to wear bullet-proof vests while on duty.

The man accused of shooting officer Dixon,
28-year-old Robert Powers, was arrested a few hours after the shooting, following a standoff at a home.
