Versailles police investigating deadly crash after SUV strikes tree

WOODFORD COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Police in Versailles are investigating a fatal crash that happened Thursday afternoon on Old Frankfort Pike.

According to a release from the Versailles Police Department, officers were sent around 2:45 p.m. on Thursday to a report of a single-vehicle collision in Woodford County.

When officers arrived, they found a small SUV that had gone off the roadway and struck a tree. Officials say the vehicle’s only occupant was taken by Woodford County EMS to University of Kentucky Hospital, where the person later died.

The Versailles Police Department Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to investigate the crash. The coroner’s office says the victim’s name is being withheld until family members have been notified.
