USA Cares to host career expo for veterans
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – USA Cares, a national nonprofit organization supporting military families in crisis, is hosting a career and education expo focused on hiring transitioning military, National Guard, Reserve, veterans and their spouses.
In coordination with the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs (KDVA), the Soldier for Life Transition Assistance Program (SFL-TAP) and the Army Reserve P3 program, the USA Cares Career and Education Expo will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at The Four Points Sheraton, located at 1938 Stanton Way in Lexington, KY, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Setup for participating organizations will begin at 9:00 am.
This event provides an excellent networking opportunity for veterans and military families who are seeking post-service careers in the civilian workforce. More than 200 potential career seekers are expected to visit the expo, and space will be available for employers to hold on-site interviews with attendees if necessary.
“We hosted a Career & Education Expo in Louisville last January and had an overwhelmingly positive response to the event, prompting us to offer one in Lexington as well,” said Cory Speicher, Career Transition Case Manager at USA Cares. “This event is an excellent opportunity for Lexington employers to connect face-to-face with many of the skilled veterans in their community, and to provide resources to those seeking additional education.”
Admission to the Career and Education Expo is FREE to the public. Employers and educators who would like to participate are encouraged to pre-register for the expo online at http://bit.ly/lexcareerexpo419.
The 2019 Career and Education Expo is sponsored by Sullivan University. Participating employers include UPS, Bullard, Spectrum/Charter, LG&E/KU, Brake Supply, Belterra Casino, The Software Guild, and Bluegrass.org; additionally, several nationally accredited colleges and universities will also be in attendance, to include University of Kentucky College of Nursing and Sullivan University.
