UPS plans to cut up to 30,000 jobs amid reduced Amazon deliveries

(ABC36 NEWS NOW) – UPS says it plans to cut up to 30,000 jobs as the company prepares to deliver fewer Amazon packages this year.

The New York Times reports the shipping giant expects a decline in Amazon-related deliveries and is adjusting its workforce accordingly.

UPS says staffing reductions will happen through attrition and voluntary separation offers for full-time drivers. According to the Times, warehouse workers will also be impacted by the cuts.

The company has already eliminated tens of thousands of jobs last year.

UPS has said it wants to scale back its partnership with Amazon, describing the relationship as largely unprofitable.
