UPS considers multi-million dollar expansion in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – United Parcel Service (UPS) is considering a $106-million expansion at its ground hub in Lexington, according to the state. On Thursday the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority approved up to $500,000 in tax incentives for construction materials and building fixtures.
The state says the tax incentives package is performance-based, not job creation.
The expansion would increase the company’s sorting capacity, according to the state.
The project would include:
$67-million for equipment
$37-million for building construction
$1.6 million for land
$825,000 for other start-up expenses
Atlanta-based UPS is the largest package delivery company in the world, servicing more than 200 countries and territories.
