Uphill Battle for Firefighters During Early Morning Fire

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – It was something of an uphill battle for firefighters trying to knock down a house fire Friday morning in Lexington.

Firefighters say they received several calls about the fire, which was visible from I75.

They arrived at the vacant home on Georgetown Road at around 2:15 a.m. and quickly realized they would have issues getting water up to the fire because it was located up a hill.

They called in several tankers in to battle the fire and were able to get the fire knocked down.

The fire chief says even though the home was vacant, there was electricity going to it.

There is no word yet on a cause.
