UPDATE: Woman identified after fatal Boyle Co. fire
DANVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A woman is dead after her home caught fire early Monday morning.
It happened on Old Hustonville Road, just south of Danville.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Firefighters say the fire broke out just before 1 a.m. Monday.
The Boyle County Coroner says the fire department thinks the fire started in the basement, before moving upstairs to the rest of the house.
One woman died in the fire.
The coroner identified her as 64-year-old Gerri Compton.
According to the coroner, Compton was found in a bedroom at the back of the house.
Compton’s body was taken to Frankfort for an autopsy.
The coroner told the Danville Advocate-Messenger, the autopsy results are not available yet, but no foul play is suspected.
