UPDATE: Water distribution centers set up in Powell County

POWELL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Officials in Powell County say a water distribution center is open, and others will soon be set up. They say people who need fresh drinking water can pick it up at the Lion’s Club.

Distribution centers are also being set up at Ace Hardware, Rogers Hardware, Allen’s Hardware and the Powell County Extension Office. Officials say the state is bringing in loads of water on Friday.

Anyone with an emergency need for water, particularly those with medical conditions or other disabilities, can contact the Powell County Emergency Operations Center at 606-663-0544 or Powell County Dispatch at (606) 663-4116.

People in the Stanton Water District in Powell County are being asked to conserve water. Customers are also asked to check for leaks on their property, as well as surrounding, unoccupied properties.
