UPDATE: Victims of crash on I-75 in Scott County identified

SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Two people were killed Sunday while they were pulled over on the interstate, changing a tire.

The Scott County Coroner, John Gobel has identified them as a married couple from Independence, Ky. He says they are 70-year-old Timothy Wayne Cantrell and 63-year-old Susan Cantrell.

The sheriff says it happened on I-75 in the northbound lanes near mile marker 130. He says the two were in a classic car on the shoulder when, not one, but two vehicles lost control and hit them while they were on the side of the road.

The crash closed down all lanes of traffic along I-75 for hours while crews worked to clear the scene and reconstruct the accident. The sheriff says five other people were taken to the hospital and their conditions are unknown. One of them though, he says, was a man who was taken by helicopter.
