UPDATE: Unattended candle being blamed for fire
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Fire officials are now saying that an unattended candle in an apartment may have ignited a fire at the Thoroughbred Center on Paris Pike.
The fire began this morning at around 8:20, and took fire crews over 3 hours to get back under control. Fire officials say the weather was partially to blame, with high winds fanning the flames complicating efforts to contain the fire. More than 60 firefighters and 32 units were needed to finally knock the flames down.
One firefighter was sent to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. A woman inside the building was treated on site.
According to fire officials, they do not believe the fire was intentionally set.
