UPDATE: Travel restriction lifted in Franklin County
FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Frankfort / Franklin County Office of Emergency Management says the weather-related travel restriction has been lifted. The office says it officially ended Tuesday night at 5:30.
The travel restriction was first put in place Monday afternoon after a Local State of Emergency declaration was issued. It meant that drivers would not be allowed to be out on the road, unless it was for essential travel. Emergency management says the restriction gave crews more room to plow snow and treat the slick roads.
Officials say drivers should continue to use caution. The community was also asked Tuesday to travel only when necessary. Franklin County roads are still slick and icy, and could get even worse with the dropping temperatures.
